SANCO.A4 was contacted by Unit C7 in order to develop an application allowing the Unit to launch the call for expression of interest as well as the creation of a new database of experts to constantly re-enforce the pool of scientific advisors. In addition, in order to maintain the database constantly updated, the registered will be asked to update their data every couple of years. The list of experts shall remain valid for 5 years.

NfNet Web:

The Novel Food catalogue is the result of the continuing discussions in the Novel Food Working Group, a group comprised of Novel Food experts from the Member States together with officials from the European Commission. It contains a list of products of plant and animal origin as well as other substances which have been discussed in relation to their status only within the meaning of the Novel Food Regulation. The discussions of the Working Group mainly focused on particular requests by industry or questions occurred in the context of official food control and may therefore cover specific parts of plants or animals, specific extracts in question. In case no specific parts of plants etc. are mentioned, that does not automatically mean that the whole plant etc. would not be covered by the Regulation. Verification on a case by case basis might be necessary. It should be emphasised that the catalogue does not at all present an exhaustive list.

This 4 IS are developed using the MVC MACHII (coldfusion CFC for object and CFM presentation)

Project description :

The case management system (CMS) is developed and maintained internally by OLAF for the management of its fraud cases and other financial irregularities.

At the moment it is mainly used by the investigators and by the support unit to record the openings of new cases, to follow them through their whole life cycle and to produce statistics on operational activities.

OLAF is currently extending the CMS functionalities in order to support the activities of the different follow-up teams. New functionalities will include extended search capabilities on documents.

CMS is developed using the 3-tier model:

- a front end in Coldfusion

- a middle layer in PL/SQL

- an Oracle Database as the back-end.

All future developments will follow this structure.
